Skip Bin Sizes & Dimensions

Measured sizes for every bin we hire, plus which ones you can load with heavy waste and no weight limit.

Pick a bin by size, then by what’s going in it

Our 2m³ to 8m³ bins are built for heavy waste and carry no weight limit. The 9m³ and 12m³ are for bulky, lighter rubbish like timber, plasterboard, carpet and furniture.

SizeL × W × HAccessWaste typeTypical job
2m³1.91 × 1.60 × 0.90 mLift-in (no door)Heavy or general – no weight limitAbout 2 trailer loads. Bathroom strip-outs, a small garden tidy, or a few rows of pavers.
3m³2.51 × 1.60 × 0.97 mWalk-in doorHeavy or general – no weight limitRoughly 3 trailer loads. Kitchen or laundry renos and small slab breakouts.
4m³3.30 × 1.60 × 0.97 mWalk-in doorHeavy or general – no weight limitAround 4 trailer loads. Our go-to for brick, tile and soil jobs on suburban blocks.
6m³3.70 × 1.60 × 1.30 mWalk-in doorHeavy or general – no weight limitAbout 6 trailer loads. Full backyard makeovers and mixed renovation rubbish.
8m³3.70 × 1.60 × 1.65 mWalk-in doorHeavy or general – no weight limitAround 8 trailer loads. Larger renovations, extensions and site clean-ups.
9m³3.85 × 1.58 × 1.52 mWalk-in doorGeneral & light wasteAbout 9 trailer loads. Bulky light waste such as timber, plaster and old furniture.
12m³4.80 × 1.55 × 1.70 mWalk-in doorGeneral & light wasteAround 12 trailer loads. Office fit-outs, house clear-outs and big volumes of light waste.
Rule of thumb: one cubic metre is about one box-trailer load heaped level. If you’re torn between two sizes, the bigger one usually works out cheaper than paying for a second bin.

Heavy waste vs general waste

Heavy waste is anything dense: soil, clay, sand, rock, bricks, tiles, pavers and concrete. Put it in a 2–8m³ bin and we won’t charge you for weight. A load that is only concrete (reo is fine) attracts a lower price again.

General waste covers household junk, renovation offcuts, timber, plasterboard, cardboard and green waste. It’s lighter per cubic metre, so the bigger 9m³ and 12m³ bins make sense.

Load it level

Please don’t pile rubbish above the top edge. Our drivers can’t legally lift or carry an overloaded bin, and it’s the one thing that slows a pickup down.
